Read some of our clients' testimonials below:
"When my initial application for a residence permit extension was denied, I was asked to leave Finland and given an Entry ban. That was a scary period for my family and me. This law firm helped me file an appeal with the Administrative Court. Their deep knowledge of Finnish immigration law and court appeal expertise turned my case around. I cannot thank them enough for the outcome. I fully recommend them!
Sara T.
"Applying for Finnish citizenship felt like the most important hurdle of my life here. I was concerned about my residency period calculations and other requirements due to the recent law changes. This firm was incredible, assisting me thoroughly before we submitted the application. They turned a process that usually takes a year of worrying into a clear, manageable plan. I am now proudly a Finnish citizen, and I couldn't have done it without their expertise."

Frequently asked questions
How is property divided in a Finnish divorce if we don't have a prenuptial or postnuptial agreement?
In Finland, the default rule is the equal distribution of property (ositus). This means all assets and debts are totaled and divided 50/50 between spouses. However, there are exceptions, such as "mediation of the separation" (osituksen sovittelu) if an equal split would lead to an unfair result. We specialize in ensuring this calculation is handled correctly and fairly.
How long does it take to get a decision on a residence permit from Migri?
Processing times vary significantly by permit type (e.g., work-based vs. family ties). While we cannot speed up Migri’s internal queue, we ensure your application is "decision-ready." By submitting a perfect application with no missing documents, you avoid "requests for further information," which is the leading cause of long delays.
Can your firm help if I receive a negative decision from Migri?
Absolutely. You have a limited window (usually 30 days) to appeal a negative decision to the Administrative Court. We can review your case to see if there are grounds for an appeal, draft the legal arguments, and represent you throughout the court process to fight for your right to stay in Finland.
Can I stay in Finland while my residence permit extension is being processed?
Yes. If you apply for an extension (jatkolupa) before your current permit expires, you usually have the right to reside in Finland until a decision is made. However, your right to work may depend on the grounds of your previous permit. We recommend consulting us at least 3 months before your current permit expires.
How can I contact you?
You can reach us via email at law@jeslor.fi, or by using the contact form. You can also send us a message on WhatsApp. We are always happy to answer your questions.
Can my family move to Finland with me if I have a residence permit?
Yes, in most cases, your spouse and unmarried children under 18 can apply for a permit based on family ties. It is often best to submit these applications simultaneously with your own to keep the family together. However, be aware that Migri usually requires you to meet a specific income threshold to prove you can support your family without relying on social benefits. We can calculate these requirements for you based on your family size.
What is the difference between an Oy and a Toiminimi for an entrepreneur permit?
A Toiminimi (Private Trader) is often simpler for solo freelancers, while an Oy (Limited Liability Company) offers better liability protection and can be more tax-efficient as the business grows. For an entrepreneur residence permit, Migri evaluates the profitability and business plan regardless of the structure, but an Oy is often preferred for more complex operations.
Does your firm accept Legal Aid (Oikeusapu), and how do I know if I qualify?
Yes, we handle cases covered by Finnish State Legal Aid. This is a government-subsidized service where the state pays part or all of your legal fees based on your income, expenses, and wealth. During our initial consultation, we can help you perform a preliminary calculation to see if you are eligible and assist you in filing the application with the Legal Aid Office (Oikeusaputoimisto). Alternatively, we can check if your home insurance includes legal expenses coverage (Oikeusturvavakuutus).
